Deus Ex Machina

high hopes of green affluence

In the timeline of history, the Industrial Revolution began the first emission of the vile smokes. It was the first, but human foreshadowing and security of the future isn't that established yet. Ignorant to the fact that the acclaimed mobilization and technological advancements inadvertently wrecks harmful emissions, the human populace proudly continued to innovate. It kept for years until come a time you see on the television screens, TIME Magazines and documentaries Al Gore's unrehearsed yet ingenious plead for at least a pint of concern for the man-made Global Warming, offspring of Climate Change, the 8th wonder of the world.
Borne of the continuous pillaging of nature without restoring it and excessive contamination in all forms, GW is at loose ends but ready to decimate anytime the green pastures, fresh air and pristine forests.

I was in 2nd grade and greenhouse effect was already included in my Science class. Back then I thought those greenhouse were the ones were you keep the plants and Global Warming was just in the textbook for addendum. Now you're apathetic if you do not to know Global Warming. Knowing its killer moves in the coming years is the elementary knowledge but most chose to stay in that elementary stage. It does not take a scientific inclination not to know the environmental abasement. Just the intolerable heat during the school days, late arrival of Christmas breeze or even the unpredictable spooky rainfall in the afternoon while the sun's searing in the morning are enough harbingers of nature's retribution. Worldwide scare through both poor and overrated depictions in the movies and literature hints us of what could get worse and perhaps encourage us to be the compelled heroes fighting for salvation. I could name a few events I've participated and say I was part in championing the march against Global Warming. I've immersed myself in a tree-planting advocacy and in the large-scale Earth Hour hoping that these good deeds assure me a slot to the salvation army once doomsday comes.

Staggering figures flashed in TV, anticipated tidal waves, sinking of Venice, Sahara turning green, Maldives being lost forever seem to be a triviality and cheap issue for the self-righteous party-goers and carefree people but who am I to dictate and force them to know these horrors?

Even then, like a nagging wife to a husband committing infidelity, no matter how good and convincing my blog is, only their own wills can pull themselves up from their wanton and be part of the league of earth preservation. Unfortunately, no god from the machine will miraculously stop the catastrophe, there's no jumping easily from one page to the climax. Hands must get all calloused and touch the soil before we curb the earth's fever.
