No Less than Meteoric

When all but shame's our little president could bring to her people, when all hopes plummeted after the Ondoy onslaught and when the people seem to exude a crestfallen air, one man never fails to draw the invisible silver lining. Manny Pacquiao.

Ironically, this contemporary champion is the quintessence of the common negative connotations of the Filipino masses: illiteracy and rags-to-riches. However insulted and projected as a grammatic laughing stock our hero may be, many lurks in his shadow of victories as something to be really proud of. In spite of all the discredited image of our country and its very clear there's almost nothing good worthy of recognition, his significant fights we never get tired of watching keeps a sense of pride as a Filipino.
Sure it is very menial to compare boxing accolades to economic progression of the giant Western countries or headlining in the news that a Pussycat Doll lead singer is a half-Filipino to an issue of 100% literacy rate of Japan but in the perspective of a Filipino, that man who boasts he will "win da payt" hoists the colors red, blue and yellow to the face of the world and relatively gives us that unique pride above all.
For every punch he executes that drives us riveted off our seats, empty streets on Sundays and seeing the very thick Chavit Singson's sulky face in national television, we bask in an undefinable glory under the wings of a flawed hero such as Manny Pacquiao.

Just this once, halt the naysayers and detractors alike and participate that a fellow Pinoy immortalized the record, a first in boxing history, 7 championship titles. We are all enjoined in this triumph even though we don't get a share from the cash prize.
His overgrowth to a superstar is no less than meteoric and we fly with him.
This is something to be proud of.
