/>

It's every artist's dilemma: when the creative juices become sappy. Apparently it's happening to me right now. The wall behind me would evoke the wow factor visually but honestly, it won't intellectually. I'd claim I am too constrained in ideation when doodling, all I do is play it by ear after all. I need fresh ideas, cathartic output, an art that would move and not just some pretty visual play. Looking back at this work, I felt too kiddie and immature design-wise so I have to grow up. Nevertheless I can feel a gradual progress in me be it in dexterity or conceptualization and it's only a matter of time before I hit that eureka phrase and transcend my old bland style. So much for a rant to myself, as they say, work it like the rent's due tomorrow or today in my case.

One of the things I rue about and probably would most likely to correct is my negligence on the importance of reading particularly during those wee hours I killed by merely existing and not doing anything of becoming. What's ironic is that I do find time to read even in my most tedious times where sheer attention should be more directed to academic stuff rather than leisure. Well I don't find time, I tenaciously MAKE time for it; train rides and precious time where I'm supposedly reviewing.

Reading is as sacred as drawing for me and books are the Holy Grail. Had I been born well-off, I would've invested on these tomes of wisdom. Right now I am very much in love with Haruki Murakami and Chuck Palanhiuk's works. I'm a sucker for twisted alternate realities as if they're a frontier in my plane of imagination waiting to be uncovered.

Dusting off

I got the slightest urge to revisit this blog after getting sick of 4Chan issues on tumblr and I actually missed this platform. I can't think of anything to post but things anchored on Manny Pacquiao's fresh triumph awhile ago or school sucking the succulence in my once vibrant social life.

Something off topic: it's been past a year since I started doodling - one thing I never thought I'd be so engrossed and would eventually become one of the tracks I'd passionately tread. Been a year and I saw how I improved in this defacto form of "art". I doodled on paper, cups and even vinyl toys.

Most recent work of mine: a doodled Keds shoe

There's my 6th(?) doodled cup.

Reassessing myself, I think I did a tough job on this art considering that I have to do these things along with my never ending plates and school stuff. I think doodling has established me as another persona in the blogosphere. It's nice to hear people say "the doodle boy" or the guy who doodles. I got something more than I bargained for and that's having myself instated as an artist and not just a plain artisan; someone with identity.

So much for a semi-long post. Tumblr kept me deviated from this real blogging platform and now that the banality of Tumblr's starting to sink in, I've decided to revive this blog, a private virtual ground where no reblogs or likes exist and where bigots could hardly reach you. I'll try to update this as much as I could. Same old: doodles, photography and rants. Glad this blog's always here when everything else seems to have left me already. I'm always welcome here.

This is me. Cory's death emitted her magic and eventually catapulted her son to heed the call for the highest position of the country. Many people are so much hyped that a hero can be seen in Noynoy and that he will reform this country. Unfortunately, I was not one of them. I want a leader that's not brought along by fame or birthright, a leader who isn't full of crap about corruption being eradicated as means of total progress and a leader who is pragmatic enough to execute laws without external constraints by looming allies objectively. That person for me is Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro.

A man of wits, pragmatism and nobility, Gibo was a fine replacement for our rotting leader. Sure he may be in the administration's party but the guilt by association always being thrown at him isn't strong enough to down a stalwart of determination and valiance. He could easily shrug off the ties with the administration and usher in a new order led by him and his new subjects. He dismissed that the current administration has nothing to do with his race and the succeeding events if ever he will win. Plain machinery and support.

I have faith in him, his platform and resolve. He is my choice for president. My vote is locked on him. He may not be winnable as suggested by vague surveys but I stand by my conviction that he is my choice. Win or lose, I know in the end my vote wasn't wasted because I voted for a candidate I believed in.

Of Lights That Dances in the Sky

If there's one thing that could make me regress into a marveling ignorant child, that would be fireworks. These lights never fail to seize my attention and each time there's a display of pyrotechnics, I wouldn't pass up a chance to be amazed. Since the advent of the World Pyro Olympics several years ago, I never missed at least one show a year. This 2010 WPO went missing because of safety issues that needed to be ironed out so MOA grabbed the chance to gather the pyro enthusiasts and solid annual viewers like me and came up with the 1st Pyromusical Competition. What's new? It's in the name; music. The problem is I'm being dragged into shying away from the usual me: open. First my mobile phone is currently incapable of sending messages that's why I'm very nonexistent in the SMS world. Then I left Plurk, one of the networking sites where I'm very active that serves as my vessel for my belaboring rants or simple updates. Lately I'm being more reserved and quiet about things because I'm starting to fear that I'm darting that notion my being talkative is already getting into others' nerves. I've always wanted to strike the conversation in a dead-air scene because taking an initiative eventually rouses others to talk but now it has been flipped somehow. I was now the one who needs the push. I toned down even in the littlest things like IM.

These weird theory pushes me to retreat into playing safe because I never wanted to establish myself as an annoyance that deserves the unfollow button be pressed or a friend so misconstrued ends up being ignored. I don't want that to happen and just for the record I'm doing this post because my conscience obliges me to provide a narration why a sudden change transpired even I could greatly notice. You can consider this a defense mechanism of some sort also. I owe those people whom I failed to reply to a sorry. And I miss hanging out with my friends big time. It just so happened that a lot has been taking its toll on me and there are endless of priorities to tend to that I am consistently missing out.

My worries are greatly being amplified by my pretenses and assumptions but its always better to take careful measures but I can assure you this has no bearing with our relationships. It's just one of those steps I just have to make. Now that's what you call acting weird.

The picture has no relevance to the content

Being outdated in the online world is something amiss of me as an online freak and lately I've been declining in my frequency of checking what's up online and particularly on blogosphere. Tumblr is an exception though because I'm starting to focus on that site. Another thing: I left Plurk for so many reasons like disinterest, a feeling of nothing new dish being served to perk us, 100 Karma denizens up and brewing up the bizarre idea that Plurk robs me off my privacy through my Plurks. I want to stray from an open site where you front your sentiments rashly without the proper discernment. This time I want to gather all thoughts collectively before publishing them for a change.

Meanwhile, my mom left us to have a vacation and "visit" my father who is in dire need of a wifey affection. I also have a presidential bet but I won't elaborate on my reasons on that one(maybe on a separate post discussing it extensively) and my Project 365 is surprisingly flourishing.
I guess this sums up my attempt to keep you posted. I was one of the skeptics who presumed it would end up as a sci-fi flop but after I've seen it for myself, I am more than enlightened and convinced. It's still a clear picture to me how stunned I was by the graphics and cohesion of it after watching and now that its one step away into overhauling Titanic for the top spot of the highest-grossing film and getting rave reviews , I ought to pay homage to this deviant cutting-edge flick through a sketch of the Na'vi, the face of Avatar. This peerless underdog made a significant mark not only to the movie history as a pioneer in innovation but also to every eye that was able to witness this silver screen legend.

Moleskine Doodle # 5 - 落書き

Here's my fifth new doodle incorporated with Japanese attributes like the great wave of Kanagawa to fill some spaces, the Ongiri and some Kaiju creatures.
I have a thing for Japanese culture recently thanks to Toshi and Michiko. In spite of his pretentious demeanor and mechanical jingle attuned to the championing of the poor, its beyond shadow of a doubt his competence and cunning aura far exceeds his opponents. That's one thing laudable of him thanks to his wad. Taking all that into account still doesn't convince me he fully embodies what the next president should be, I don't see in him that resolve and outright sincerity. He's more of a bigwig of a syndicate or a mogul than a politician but nonetheless, he's giving this election that bad ass mean-machine flair. I easily fell into fascination of photography. Before, a snapshot just for the heck of remembrance would be enough but that particular art of picture-taking even more broadened by the dawn of digital SLR's kept me engrossed. I've decided to make my own Project 365 wherein you will take a photo everyday, the whole year round. Self-portraiture is not my thing so my subjects would be that of my surroundings. This daily basis keeps me disciplined and picks up my pace for the love of photography and most of all, it allows me to give different perspective on things I fail to notice, no matter how simple. I swear this Project 365 will successfully materialize.

Project Wall Doodle

After tedious strokes and bearing with the addictive stench of permanent markers, I proudly present to you my first major wall doodle. It's a design for GCF-East's Youth Center and served as a background for the launching of the Youth Worship. The wall was initially coated four times with latex and applied with gloss so I could easily draw on it.

Doodles are spontaneous and at most contain no profound meaning at all but I was asked to explain my art as how I could relate it to the youth. Aside from the banal lines that fill up the bland spaces, the bizarre creatures are the direct representation of the mundane world and the centerpiece are the humbled youth of prayer, going down in their knees to be able to go up.
Overall, the design mirrors the unconventional thinking of the youth today, contemporary and avant-garde.

Thanks to those who doodled the left part, I didn't take pictures of it anymore.

All for God's glory.

Boom

The 2009 race was sublime. Given the iconic death of Cory Aquino who ignited once more the yellow revolution, a far cry of mourning from fanatics of the timeless Michael Jackson, stars of the local scene, the Ondoy rampage and how politics lambasted humanity by going overboard through the massacre of innocent lives, I personally would say this year surpassed its precedents in both flair and diversity. Yes it was a year of so much loss but the sadness reciprocated with triumph in many forms like Pacquiao's groundbreaking victory to snag the 7th world title, the propelled fame of Efren Peñaflorida and a rekindling of the Bayanihan. This year was revolutionary in an aspect only the indifferent does not know. Ups and downs, the tilt and drift if all combined, you get the elixir of meaning of how a year is really defined. Both in the tragedy and comedy do you unravel the kernel and learn the tricks of the trade. I learned a lot. I mastered grit. I learned patience. I clung to faith in a higher bar. I learned how to do a big recoil.

I cast off the worries of the year that was, the problems and the disputes and I depart to a new year hand-carrying my goodies. So let's leave that o-nine and embrace a new realm and the clean slate. Let's paint 2010 real good. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hate

          stalemate

I Hate... groups in Facebook is now the new invader of the live news feed. I dislike not the fanpage itself but the act. Well it propels the tiniest feeling of disinterest and disdain into an institution where fans converge and become a horde of haters. Comic but ugly at the same time.
When the Ampatuan genocide occured, Gloria Arroyo, her iconic mole and her clan decided to file candidacy and the looney partial martial was declared, all we could harness was hate. There was fulmination and hoopla from different corners but none shattered the pathological egotist's smile and madness. Rantings of both the virtual and analog worlds were ultimately for naught.

Ironic and untimely for such concentrated hate to emerge in the dawning of the Christmas,

still the end of the day there is still method out of the madness.

The hate borne of the madness appalls the conscience and averts apathy to resolve, cynicism to optimism. Our direct contempt for the government's fecklessness and cursing for the misery we half-heartedly deserve brought by the havoc of Ondoy warped us to introspection of our part's misgivings, of our own contribution to the hate we harbor.

We may not shun completely those simple loathings for professors, for persons that transgressed us but somehow I know it recedes. Hate is a generic attribute but how we take the wheel over it is unique in each of us. How we curb it and allocate it depends on our judging. Before we hate, there should be a need to examine what ignited it, is it an indignation or simply a display of distaste?

Hate but see right through the hate.

Moleskine Doodle # 2 - Quirk

new creatures and I also included the Sun of May

Holiday Trailblazing

To do away with the wantonness of being at home during a holiday and something out of the ordinary while consuming the free day, we went hiking in Mt. Maculot, Batangas.
Arrived there at around 6 am I guess;just when the sun had just risen.

It wasn't an easy climb because the slope was really inclined upwards, we had to take breaks in pit stops once in a while. Just when we thought, we're physically fit, the trail shamed our manhood and endurance.

We reached the summit at around 9 AM where we saw fellow hikers who camped and was about to descend already. The moment we stepped in the zenith of the mountain, the panorama it offered compensated for all our efforts and exhaustion.

You could clearly see the lake plus the cold wind will somehow remove the body aches. Practically, the texture of its pages is fine and the notebook is generally awesome. Its pretty sturdy and although expensive, definitely worth the bargain. My succeeding blogs would be infused with moleskine arts to give it a litle twist and so I could say its really my original.

It's mantra "The legendary notebook" is really appropriate because you're free to make a legend out of its stark pages, you can do every stroke of your will to pen your most random thoughts or make an illustration that would last for a long time. I suggest you go buy one and chronicle things that don't happen the same way twice.

13 and Pacquiao

Pacquiao vs Morales after 13 days - Wowoweee stampede

Pacquiao vs Larios after 13 days - Mayon Volcano erupted

Pacquiao vs Barrera after 13 days - Glorietta 2 bombing

Pacquiao vs Marquez after 13 days- rice shortage

Pacquiao vs.Cotto after 13 days- Maguindanao massacre

A simple icebreaker. There was dead air the whole day, we didn't talk. The next day turned out to be better because mom talked to me and I said I'll go for Architecture, the destiny I know I am for but set aside. That's the avenue where I took a wrong turn. I just took it for granted and ended up screwing a lot in my tertiary year. Dad talked to me over the phone and rebuked me for a while but advised me not to force myself to UST if I know my course will eat me up and my future will be at stake. I was able to grok my parents' concern, they were very supportive and half of my worries are done.

This week my grandma's doctor called because on Monday she had to be admitted already to perform tests for her surgery in her right breast to remove the cancerous lump. The operation didn't go swiftly because her blood pressure was high that it delayed the surgery so her stay in the hospital was extended and my mom and cousin had to take shifts in going there to watch over her. I am left at home to tend to chores and manage the house while they were away.

That was the time I realized being a parent was a tall order. Imagine being left without an allowance while being so occupied on what to eat since they were not able to do groceries. There should be rationing of food and other resources, I had to babysit Tyler, wash the dishes, take the dog outside and sometimes cook my own food. I came to a point where I had to compromise my savings for other expenses like load to call mom and know how they're doing and for the food. It required both my patience and strategy physically and emotionally in handling a random situation. I didn't complain, in fact it was more of an obligation since I am technically an out-of-school youth and I had to do this to keep myself busy.

I never thought the first week of what I thought would be of a sloth would be a challenging time. Still grateful most part of it passed smoothly and I am more looking forward to the coming days particularly this Christmas.

I also have to set an agenda and to-do lists to galvanize myself like reading novels and improving my doodles and hopefully place them in a blank Moleskine.

No Less than Meteoric

When all but shame's our little president could bring to her people, when all hopes plummeted after the Ondoy onslaught and when the people seem to exude a crestfallen air, one man never fails to draw the invisible silver lining. Manny Pacquiao.

Ironically, this contemporary champion is the quintessence of the common negative connotations of the Filipino masses: illiteracy and rags-to-riches. However insulted and projected as a grammatic laughing stock our hero may be, many lurks in his shadow of victories as something to be really proud of. In spite of all the discredited image of our country and its very clear there's almost nothing good worthy of recognition, his significant fights we never get tired of watching keeps a sense of pride as a Filipino.

Sure it is very menial to compare boxing accolades to economic progression of the giant Western countries or headlining in the news that a Pussycat Doll lead singer is a half-Filipino to an issue of 100% literacy rate of Japan but in the perspective of a Filipino, that man who boasts he will "win da payt" hoists the colors red, blue and yellow to the face of the world and relatively gives us that unique pride above all.

For every punch he executes that drives us riveted off our seats, empty streets on Sundays and seeing the very thick Chavit Singson's sulky face in national television, we bask in an undefinable glory under the wings of a flawed hero such as Manny Pacquiao.

Just this once, halt the naysayers and detractors alike and participate that a fellow Pinoy immortalized the record, a first in boxing history, 7 championship titles. We are all enjoined in this triumph even though we don't get a share from the cash prize.

His overgrowth to a superstar is no less than meteoric and we fly with him.

This is something to be proud of.

December

I was born in December. Let's put it in the context of Facebook, we have the mutual friends. Just this summer I had classmates from other colleges who happens to be of an unlikely connection to some people I know. I just said I hail from San Beda then the girl suddenly talked to me and flashed a smile saying her ex was also from the same school I came from. The other guy also knows two of my batchmates in high school and a mutual friend of my friend in Facebook. Aya is a friend of my former classmate in elementary, Lara is my church mate who also attended in the same school when I was in pre-school and her man is a close friend of my fourth year classmate, Alex was my bus mate in elementary and now we're church mates. We've recently discovered that my sister's boyfriend's aunt is the best friend of my late aunt. Then we all say the cliche: small world.

Maybe the last thing I'll know is I'm the lost heir to an oil mogul who will be granted 100% of the wealth in his last will and testament. How I wish.

That's just a knack of God's ingenuity. I'm not a fan of fate but whatever/whoever caused it, genius. Having the mere sense of interconnection is also having the sense of belongingness. Knowing someone's someone and others' others is a halfway Utopian dream. Most networking sites would fill that out in their mission statements: to grow. Being friends with as many as you can raises the stakes of having people to turn to for help or god forbid, the number of mourners attending your funeral. Your close friends friends with some of your friends is like being able to place a bunch of kittens in one box, When going out, you could invite one person and another knowing they are familiar with one another, just with the kink of one getting out of place from the group. You can have them connected but not always their interests.

For what its worth, these intertwined relationships(whether or not you are aware of it), accessorize the flow of every episode of life. The principal characters are around you but you are a dynamic protagonist and so are your antagonist and the supporting actors you will meet along the way. They are part of a large ensemble, be it on screen or behind the scenes. Anytime, anywhere, just six steps at most is any person away from the other, literally or figuratively.

The eyes speak what words can't.

Porcelain dolls still freak the heck out of me a lot. :>

Deus Ex Machina

      high hopes of green affluence

In the timeline of history, the Industrial Revolution began the first emission of the vile smokes. It was the first, but human foreshadowing and security of the future isn't that established yet. Ignorant to the fact that the acclaimed mobilization and technological advancements inadvertently wrecks harmful emissions, the human populace proudly continued to innovate. It kept for years until come a time you see on the television screens, TIME Magazines and documentaries Al Gore's unrehearsed yet ingenious plead for at least a pint of concern for the man-made Global Warming, offspring of Climate Change, the 8th wonder of the world.
Borne of the continuous pillaging of nature without restoring it and excessive contamination in all forms, GW is at loose ends but ready to decimate anytime the green pastures, fresh air and pristine forests.

I was in 2nd grade and greenhouse effect was already included in my Science class. Back then I thought those greenhouse were the ones were you keep the plants and Global Warming was just in the textbook for addendum. Now you're apathetic if you do not to know Global Warming. Knowing its killer moves in the coming years is the elementary knowledge but most chose to stay in that elementary stage. It does not take a scientific inclination not to know the environmental abasement. Just the intolerable heat during the school days, late arrival of Christmas breeze or even the unpredictable spooky rainfall in the afternoon while the sun's searing in the morning are enough harbingers of nature's retribution. Worldwide scare through both poor and overrated depictions in the movies and literature hints us of what could get worse and perhaps encourage us to be the compelled heroes fighting for salvation. I could name a few events I've participated and say I was part in championing the march against Global Warming. I've immersed myself in a tree-planting advocacy and in the large-scale Earth Hour hoping that these good deeds assure me a slot to the salvation army once doomsday comes.

Staggering figures flashed in TV, anticipated tidal waves, sinking of Venice, Sahara turning green, Maldives being lost forever seem to be a triviality and cheap issue for the self-righteous party-goers and carefree people but who am I to dictate and force them to know these horrors?

Even then, like a nagging wife to a husband committing infidelity, no matter how good and convincing my blog is, only their own wills can pull themselves up from their wanton and be part of the league of earth preservation. Unfortunately, no god from the machine will miraculously stop the catastrophe, there's no jumping easily from one page to the climax. Hands must get all calloused and touch the soil before we curb the earth's fever.

.

Lost - The 23rd Psalm

Eko: The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. She replied that instead of joining the charity work in school, we could just contribute in their area's so I agreed. I met up with Jio in the overpass shed, took an FX up to Blum then rode a tricylce to where Michiko would pick us up in Balic. Saw her and introduced us to the people behind the community service. We were given allowance for cab and were divided into three groups. Cabs were such a snob so we decided to hire a jeep for all of us since that would be wiser and definitely be a thrift tactic. Got a private jeep and rode it till Tiende. Upon arriving there, we saw our contacts and asked us to ready ourselves and go inside the transpos readied for us. The most epic highlight of this service was the ride itself. We were perched atop a firetruck with the siren wailing all the way to the venue followed by large black vans, later by the military volunteers and the truck loaded with the provisions. It was a loud and catchy convoy similar to presidential escorts. All the people were looking at us and the vehicles nearby won't dare get in the way.

A fitting word for it: MAANGAS

Chiz is known for non-transparency and minimal exposure compared to all prospects for the seat of power so the shirt would be the humblest way of making his help acknowledged and known. Nevertheless, his affiliates were from an organization that doesn't front his name for campaign purposes.

First stop was in the Tañong parish. We assembled as a compressed line and one by one held the

plastic bags to the next person, a manual assembly line; a work hand in hand. My arms ached

after that but it was worth it. Then we jumped in back to the truck for the next place.

There was traffic so the advantage of the siren has no use. Mountains of junk lay in all

sides, slippers clung in electric wires, children and men barely naked, mud-streaked and damaged

houses, an image far from Marikina's reputation as the cleanest city.

The ghost town is worse than I thought. Roads were all muddy and slippery. There is no electricity,

a candle was all that's keeping their hopes alive. Almost everyone was telling us they need water,

I could imagine how hard it is for them to find sources that will quench their thirsts. The dry traces

of flood in walls were horrid indications of its really high level.

The instruction was to deliver the boxes and groceries into the other truck so that they will manage

the distribution in an evenly manner. I no longer cared how the grimy mud at my feet

splats on my shoes and good enough, we finished our work there.

We were informed that that was the last site so we returned

to Tiende to eat. For our efforts we earned our thanks and received an incentive so we spent it

for our dinner. After eating I told them I'll go ahead, took a bus then went home with a smile.

It's an immersion that really drove us face to face with the reality. Somehow the sight I saw took

me by surprise with a mix of awe and awareness but my grasp of the society's state catapulted to

a whole new paradigm. Black outs, disconnections, signal disruptions, floods, landslides, road cracks and other unpleasant view in television are enough proof of the backlash of our degrading environment. I'm finding it hard myself to realize the magnitude of the storm's destruction and how people will rebound from this but still glad everyone in my family is safe. What's More uplifting to the mood is seeing people are donate to the ravaged and the damaged. We did our part by giving excess or used clothes already. Just the simple text messages of "Kamusta kayo dyan?" are enough things to console the bereaved souls. Hang on, we'll eventually get past this.
Here's the reason classes on UST is suspended until Wed:

Till here, connection's still haywire. Tayong Dalawa finale. Tumagal din tong show na to and partly nasubaybayan ko. It has a good story, turn of events and high-caliber actors and actresses. Gina Pareño palang and Coco Martin eh. Ayun nga, yung twist nag start kahapon. Namatay si Audrey(Kim Chui), very unconventional kasi bida tapos pinatay and to think na central figure sya sa story, sya yung leading lady na after months na pinag-agawan agawan ng 2 lalaki papatayin lang. Ayan kakaagawan nyo walang nakakuha.

2. Sa Naruto Manga 465, as usual bitin.

5. So much anticipation and raving sa yet to be released single ni Adam Lambert entitled "Strut" parang Depeche Mode + Queen daw and madami na nagsabi like Lady Gaga, USA Today na maganda daw yung song.

6. Delete ko din tong post na to after a few days. Blah.

Malakas ang ulan ngayon, ayaw magtigil, nararamdaman ko na ang pagtaas ng tubig sa España, lalabas ulit ang mga jet ski at kayak :)

Articulate

This week I've been bombarded with translating Filipino words to English and vice versa. My Filipino class' main highlight is all about wika, komunikasyon its components and a deeper focus on speech and the manner of execution. Most prominent thing I've learned from this class is how our own language becomes obsolete by the minute; we've been losing the direct translations for words and resorts to morphing like retaining the original pronunciation but omitting letters.
In the colloquial setting, we use words like keyk, titser, varayti and such words where there is no direct Filipino equivalent. This is a more common way of translation but in this manner we never establish our own identity, our own language. It clearly indicates our words are still heavily dependent on its grass roots, the colonizers' language.

I have a homework about Komunikasyon where I have to research its definition and its forms. Of course the main source would be the internet but there is no guarantee results will turn out all in the Filipino language so what I did was to translate it on my own and its no easy task. In the process I may have already reduced the essence of the English definition the moment I wrote it into Filipino. Our lack of words shows not only in our own usage but also in other medium like TV shows. Try watching Tagalized-Animes and notice how some dialogs are so repetitive. One character will say something only to be echoed by the other. Set the real English subs and see how far the real message the character is trying to convey from what the Tagalog version did. No wonder our giant networks are afraid to dub TV shows like That 70's or Pushing Daisies cause they'll only depreciate the humor. Another funny thing about our language is the problem with circulation and preference. Go use the word "paaralan" or "bangkarote". How about "guro", "kwaderno", "pisara", "luntian". In the dark ages maybe those words were conventional but you get the awry feeling if you use them nowadays. They're already buried somewhere in our word bank but in the English sphere they never hesitate to still use beseech, bask or mire, they even find new ways of making it more creative in a play-by-ear contexts.

If there is an Anglophile: a lover of the English language, there would be no local version of it. "Mahalin natin ang sariling wika" is just a cliche for formalities.

Suffrage

Aaron: ano kaya ma, mananalo kaya tandem nila Noynoy-Mar?

Mama: mananalo yan, wala nang magandang choice,

you choose the lesser evil.

For once I heard something insightful from my comic mom. She's been always preoccupied with her trial-balances, financial statements and Korean marathons to talk to us about social issues with earnestness. Some of the subjects where we build a good rapport is concerned mainly with people, school and how our day went well. Going back to the Aquino son ballyhoo, it's not the media pimping that's blowing up his chances in triumph but the people's vision in a stalwart of morality and harbinger of hope that they see in him, a hero born out of the spur of the moment.

I see it in him and I'll vote for him. I just need to register, swear.

I heard Mrs. Imelda Marcos told the news reporter that the Marcos regime most particularly the Martial Law days should be considered as a Golden Age in our history. Now please tell me what's so golden with over expenditure, repression of people, closure of publishing houses and networks, curfew hours and all those frenzied rallies. As if I'm studying. Part of cleaning up is replacing the busted light bulb in my ceiling. Being vertically-challenged, I needed the support of a stool to reach it. Since dad's an interior designer, the lighting fixture in my ceiling was no simple socket, it had an outer layer glass bowl that covers it. There's an extra effort needed in detaching the glass before you could actually remove the bulb. Using the screwdriver I loosened the screw while holding the glass bowl so it won't fall. So imagine working with your two hands concentrating on twitching the screw while sweating over the thought that releasing the other hand will shatter the glass. What made the process an ordeal is gravity's adding up to the weight. Basically, it would be more of a comfort if it was upside down but that's not how it works. Gravity played the role of a resident bitch while I'm doing it, an unseen force pushing me.
Initially, out of this rather trivial home repair, a thought to ponder surfaced.

That gravity's the arbiter in the struggle. Had it been easy, there's no sense of fulfillment. No value, no realization. Physically, gravity is a framework structured as such to maintain balance. It's like a numeric precision assigned for things to function at the same time it acts as an adversary to outdo, something to go against.

Michaelangelo Buonarotti was commissioned to paint the Sistine Chapel's ceiling.

On his own, upside down. He finished it in his early 80's. One of the most revered artworks of all time. He did it. An actual testament to the infringement of gravity.

So what's been up lately?

Last class Advance. I went to school to give Richard a favor by doing a fashion shoot for their magazine project. She/he's hell of a "fierce" model striking every pose with confidence. Her/his photogenic attitude all the more motivates me to keep up with him/her. It went well and I had many good shots but he/she doesn't want it for public viewing yet until they have submitted it fully edited so here's a glimpse:

Chic? Thanks to this I was able to experience what they call fashion photography.

In other news,Kanye never failed to make a prick out of himself. Well he's still deluded that he's the "voice of the generation" but reality check, no one's taking him seriously. In national television he took Taylor's mic and told that Beyonce's video was better. I felt so shamed for him, like he could have been stoned at that very moment and come on, pick someone of your own size please, not a demure young lady. He deserves the boo and all the swearing all around the net. Good thing Taylor's performance still delivered and Beyonce humbly paved the way for the rightful winner of the night to finish her acceptance speech. I saw Katy Perry is smokin as ever and she's becoming more like Dita Von Tesse.

The Church VS. The State

A rivalry is an inception of differences, of dissensions, selfishness or of proving who is stronger than who at others' expense. Whatever the reason, there are always two sides. Good and Evil, light and darkness, heat and cold,McDonalds and Jollibee and in the local scene we have Ateneo-La Salle. Let's take UP-UST rivalry. Well the idea bumped me since the CDC is tomorrow and that's the cathartic event both schools anticipate. Apparently UP-UST has been dubbed as the "Church versus the State" because of their academic approaches and ideology. UP is very well known as a "free" and liberated university that is affiliated with any religion while UST is a conservative Catholic university under the supervision of the Holy See. It's a recent title and I respect these two titans regardless of the jeers and insults. I think they are the best representations of a torn world view today.
Clearly, they are polar opposites. Let's cut down to the chase. Society has delineated that the liberals or the free thinkers lack the moral compass because of God's absence in their lives and that they lack direction because they don't have the framework of the Church's teachings.Untrue.

Take UP for example, its a national university not handled by the church but one of the premier schools in the country, progressive and straightforward.
Why cant some people be so narrow-minded and still be anchored with the traditional norms?

It's a digital and contemporary era. I'm not endorsing UP.

Generalizing, its pretty pathetic to still see people think just in a one-track mind.

Can we not upgrade those old standards? Can we not approve of the mundane methods because we misinterpret it as a violation of the "teachings"? You can always mix both without smirching other's beliefs. Proof would be Christian rock and rap, a non-conventional lively praise and worship which is even a greater exhhibition of exaltation to God rather than the horrid plainsongs and chants , a fashionable way of conservatism, love story of an agnostic and a pastor and by the way the Bible doesn't directly say drinking is a sin, moderation is what's being implied. They won't always conform but a careful injection to the other might produce a wonder outcome. Due to these clouded judgments we are still inside the box.

We need the divine ideas and we also need the humanistic. I personally salute the modern artists who infuses both worlds where the Church is regarded and the State reinforces, together, hand in hand.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://aieos.blogspot.com/2009/09/church-vs-state.html' title='The Church VS. Aside from the fictitious numerology, a pivotal declaration that would go down in the annals of history occured.

Early in the morning, Noynoy jerked in a formal tone with mustered courage and utmost confidence his candidacy for president. Sure his mother's death isn't part of the plan and the perennial call for democratic revival is still at large but nevertheless he ignored the misconstrued reason for running because of the public's expectations or living up to his parents legacy. Valiantly he stood in the pulpit and mouthed the words "I will run for president"(not exact words). A great applause followed, their cups have been filled.

Many prospects for the coveted presidential throne have withrawn. A reason still bleak but definitely a catalyst in the process.

I saw and felt he is downright sincere in his desicion and committed to this responsibilty. He is an heir to a lineage of wise leaders so let's bet there's a high probability he'll steer, if blessed enough to win, this third-world land of cultural dichotomy.

Still you can't digress from the issue that his candidacy is based from a sole rationale but highly influenced by so much pressure from the people around him. I'm a Chiz fanatic but the tables might turn, well slowly it is. Something favorable is instilled in the young Aquino's persona. There are intrinsic traits of a good leader in this man. I personally like the attitude so I hope he wouldn't betray the trust of the pleading souls.

This isn't about my opinion or how good publicists will buff Noynoy's run. After all, the servants are the major kingmakers. A proletariat is always the person behind a superior's ascent.

Flimsy Week

Hello again blog-o-sphere. I forgot to post because of my laziness these past few days.
Last Sunday while climbing up the stairs, I tripped. Stupid. It hurts all the more when I saw my toenail bleeding, I checked it and there's a perfect slice in the middle of the nail. Classic.

Come Tuesday I had a difficulty walking but I wasn't limping that much so people woulnd't find something awry about me but heck, every step is a real pain. During those times, walking is a tall order and sitting is a bliss unfortunately I did a lot of walking that day. I had to pass the waiver for the fieldwork so I walked from Eng to TYK. My coordinator wasn't around so the guy got the folder of the groups and slid in my waiver. That saved me from possibly being reprimanded cause the deadline of submission was last Saturday plus I got my shirt. Skipped PE and Lit and took a good rest at home.

Wednesday was looong. It starded with Comp. Our professor is usually an hour late but that day he wasn't. We did an activity good for 30 minutes but he never dismissed us early. Stuck there for 2 and a half hours. Filipino followed and its fairly a lively class. English, I just slept and I can't really stand Mam Sembranno's corny jokes and her epileptic gestures. Then finally, Math then went home. Today I didn't go to school because I feel like it. It's ony Philo for chrissakes, she doesn't even checks attendance and her discussions are irrelevant.

Mom returened with an interest the money she borrowed and UST lost. Teng galeng.

I need more money for Hello Hurricane or Katy Perry and BLG's show but I hope dad will subsidize. Friday

Thursdays are my self-proclaimed day-off cause I got only one class during that day. Philo. Last Thursday was very short-lived. It's the regent's birthday, the profs are having a mini get-together at the office and we were dismissed 30 minutes ahead of time. I went straight home because the next set of distribution of shirts is at 2pm and I'm not planning to wait that long. Got home, took a nap and waited for mom and 4:30. I darted off to Gateway to meet up with Angelo and company which I haven't seen for a month already. They were about to get the tickets upon my arrival and I was a bit taken aback they planned to watch it in 3D since Up's graphics will be maximized with it. Good thing I brought with me extra cash and the pricey ticket comes with a popcorn and a drink. Saw my 4th year adviser then entered the movie house without much expectations of the movie except that it's way different from other Pixar flicks.
And it delivered. It was really good. Inexplicably great plus the kid was darn cute. We did the usual thing after a movie. Eat, laugh and talk. Angelo's conventionally quiet and reserved while Mark's the same talkative brat who never runs out of things to say. I honestly missed that part. Too bad we don't get to see each other more often.

Friday or awhile ago we went to Galle. Saw Karen and that's expected, saw April but I forgot to ask her about the magazine thing, she's grown already. Guess modeling shapes up legs. Watched Time Traveler's Wife. It was also good though I, like most of those who have already read it, just can't help look for the exact scenes from the book or make comparisons. Rachel McAdam's hot and they messed the sweet ending. It's pretty tear-jerking somehow but not as surreal as the novel. I went home while they went to Tiende. I've got things to attend to like studying.
Still got classes later and my pesky "leader" in English told me to meet up for the research tomorrow. Bummer.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://aieos.blogspot.com/2009/08/thursday-friday.html' title='Thursday. Spending a grand $20,000 solely for a dinner would quickly instigate the the masses. They got angry but who wouldn't? I mean they get to eat a gourmet dish while we vie for a P50 lunch. No fair.
The president is good at insulting her people now that her glory days(if she even had those) are about to end. She pulled a brainsick tactic like what she always do. Prolly making the most of her time but all the more giving a reason for the Filipinos to be indignant.
Her schemes are already a dull recurring thing the populace were already accustomed to and I suppose I also got used to it. Pesky at first but soon it becomes funny already especially if you see the sell-outs cover up the administration's faults with many loopholes then giving the flimsy excuses.

But at the end of the day, no complaints, rallies or articles could ever amount to dethroning a megalomaniac. All that's brewing now is the thought of all the those things I could buy with that 20,000 given the privilege or maybe cut the selfishness and be charitable. Give it to the marginalized and you've just fed a thousands. Did that even occur in her mind while eating the caviar in Le Cirque?
I wonder.

Back

Recounting my last serious post in this ill-forgotten and outdated blog is a blur now.
Managing a blog is a tall order. Not just it sucks up all the floating thoughts inside you, it incorporates effort and time in checking it up if not everyday, at least in a frequent manner.
Well I could say I now have quite the heart in reviving this blog but with lil changes. Shorter entries, a more me-talking and colloquial posts. I got fed up with those profound posts already but it does not follow I'll drop my flair of sense and intellect in writing.

I'm currently streaming Lost episodes, has a churning stomach, not yet sleepy and messing up my bio clock again.
End it here.
